What expectations did you have of biology/environmental science class at the start of the year? When was the last time you had biology or earth science?
My expectations for biology/environmental science were that we would be learning about the human anatomy and physiology all the time as well as getting to dissect stuff all the time. I had any type of biology course or science course at all was in the third grade.
Describe a memorable event when your perspective of what it means to be a scientist changed or was challenged. Why was this moment important for you?
A moment where my perspective changed was when we did abstracted observations and we had to draw out a specific scenery, we also had to be very explicitly with what we saw. We drew out exactly what we saw and also we had to come up with at 20 descriptive words that described what was in our drawing. This really allowed me to see that scientist don't spend all day experimenting on bunnies and rat's if not they take note of every little thing, they take pictures, they write down hypothesis.
How have you evolved as a scientist this semester ?
This semester as a scientist I feel as if I have become way more observant with the things around me and starting to become more detail oriented with my life. Becoming more observant has also helped me a lot with my writing, photography and film, it has helped me with how to place a model, or exactly what I want for the next scene I am filming, same thing for writing, it has helped me with where to place those juicy pieces in my stories.
