Math III
Growth Mindset
For two weeks instead of working on math, we were assigned to choose a topic to learn over the course
of two weeks.I chose to finish a video that I have been wanting to start for a while before but was
focused on other things, so I took this opportunity to work on it.

What Impact Did the Growth Mindset Project
Have on you?
The growth mindset project started up some motivation to want to get things done, especially during class. The growth mindset project also taught me that I shouldn't give up when things begin to get hard or that I feel like I won't be able to do it. I felt inspired after watching everyone else present their project, watching Ivanna want to work out more and ride her bike, as well as Melissa learning a bit of sign language, everyone tried to learn something and did not give up.
Did You Continue to Try and Improve on
Your Topic After the Two Weeks was Over?
Why or Why Not?
I did continue to try, in fact I took part in creating a PSA about bullying along side Digital Gym which will be premiered June 23. The growth mindset project really motivated me to begin to get more videos done so that they could be used as examples for the future, I have used creating videos as a way to show process for example if you go on my CV Zine Fest page under Zine production there is a mini video about how we screen printed t-shirts. I am hoping that by the end of Senior year my dp will be filled with different visual examples of work I've done.
How Was the Growth Mindset Project Applicable to Math This Year?
The growth mindset project allowed me to see that learning something new will always be a process, it's not something that you just try once and you either understand it or you don't, it's all about trying your best to get it right or to get it done to your best ability. During tests I would come in more confident knowing that I am going to try my best based off of my knowledge and if I didn't get a score I wanted I was just happy with knowing I tried my best.
King Arthur Problem-Struggled or Enjoyed?
I really enjoyed this problem because it really pushed my thinking as well as communicating with other which leads to being able to teach others. This problem was formatted like any other problem which was, getting to look at it on our own and just brain dump anything we thought could work to solve it, and then we got to share out about our thinking, sharing my thinking is always my favorite thing to do. Seeing the different patterns everyone was coming up with was really fun, there were small arguments about the "right" way to count off who was staying and who was getting kicked out (for more information about the problem, click the button). Overall this problem was really fun to work on with my peers, there were somethings we struggled with for example, figuring out how to come up with an equation that would do all of the counting for us. After all of the hard work we had taken a group quiz and by far it was one of the only group quizzes I had really understood what was going on and what steps to take next.

How Have You Grown This Year?
This year I think I have understood a lot of subjects really quickly and get the grasp of it, something that really helped were the lectures when learning a new subject rather than a new week long problem to work on in a group. This year really helped make me more independent, not always being in a group and depending on others to figure it out for me has allowed me to grow up and prepare for Senior year. I am really looking forward to getting to work in study groups and take a class that will help me feel more prepared for what is to come in college, as well as never really giving up and building good relationships with people. Building better relationships with others really helps you not be afraid to share out in class or seek help from other students and I think this year helped me do that a lot more.
What Math Class Are You Taking Next Year? Why?
I have decided to take Pre-College Algebra because I need get my algebra solid before I can take any calculus class. I am really hoping that by taking this class I will be able to test into college level math which might sound close to impossible but it's not, as long as I push myself to a point that I know I can do it as well as taking advantage of my resources which is something I haven't done before.
How Do You Plan On Being Successful Next Year in Math? As A Senior?
In order to be successful next year as a Senior is to not be afraid to seek help and to participate in study groups as often as possible because I have noticed that learning from other students makes lots of subjects easier to understand. Another thing I will do is take lots of notes during lectures, so that if I am confused about something in specific I can go back and ask my teacher or classmates about it and get it clarified.
